In Texas, we have 4 different seasons. Winter, Summer, Friday Night Football and March Madness!

Facebook Contests and Giveaways – the New Rules

Recently Facebook updated it’s policy regarding contests and promotions.   In the past, for example,  (to be “legal” under Facebook’s guidelines and policies), you were not allowed to ask people to LIKE your page and then make them eligible for a prize or giveaway.  Well that has all changed.   Click here to see Facebook’s announcement.

Summertime Social Media: Do Not Go MIA

It’s summertime!

So how does your social media presence thrive during these few months when there are so many people in your office on vacation?  Perhaps as the headmaster or the chief admissions officer, you imagine working shorter work weeks to enjoy more 3-day weekends with the family at the lake, beach or on the golf course.  Or you are planning that family vacation and your spouse has threatened you with your life if don’t learn to put down the iPad during your day at Disney.  While every school marketing professional needs refreshment and renewal, do not let your absence have a negative impact on your social media presence.

Just because you are not there, doesn’t mean that prospective families have stopped looking. Do not go missing in action!

The Randy Vaughn Family on Memorial Day #100for100This past Memorial Day, our family made the intentional decision not to just make this holiday about sleeping in, eating a lot of food and hanging out.

We had heard an interview on a local radio station about a Memorial Day fundraiser for an organization called “Carry the Load.” Being a running family, this intrigued me enough to listen further. One of the beneficiaries of this year’s Memorial Day CTL event was to be another organization called “Sons of the Flag”. SOTF is dedicated to raising awareness for and helping burn victims, either soldiers, firefighters, or civilians.
